yeah, thats how i know elizabeth. and that's where i went to manage my personas. let me guess, so did you. does that other guy know about the velvet room, too?
[ He really must have the wildcard. And it would confirm Makoto's long-standing suspicion that it's why nobody else could ever see the door to the Velvet Room. ]
i dont know what to say. i'd gone into this conversation prepared to hear that the fall happened all over again. uhh, that's the thing we were trying to stop in the dark hour.
what's the deal with this midnight channel and metaverse
Yeah, he does. Was there a guy with a long nose in yours too?
What's the fall, exactly?
[ From the reaction Makoto had the other day, probably not anything good. ]
I don't know much about the Midnight Channel but the Metaverse is how we brought criminals to justice. People the police weren't doing anything about. Since the Metaverse is shaped by cognition, people with really twisted views spawned places we called Palaces. We'd infiltrate and steal the treasure at the root of the distortion. It would cause the entire thing to collapse and their views to change and they'd confess their crimes.
lol that's definitely not the fall. it sounds pretty great, actually. there's a cop we were helping, too... not with criminals but he gave us weapons to use during the dark hour bc it was starting to effect the real world.
The Fall (as i should be typing it if i cared abt grammar and punctuation)... its a really long story.
[ And one he doesn't like telling, but. Sigh. Whatever. In such an unusual situation as this, he will, for Akira. ]
but. basically its the apocalypse. a crazy guy was experimenting with special shadows, called arcana. they were special bc if all of them are killed, the last one (death) causes the fall to happen. something went wrong back then with the experiments, the death one escaped, and the fall never happened. thats when the dark hour started happening. people with the potential to have personas stay awake during it, but regular people turn into coffins and aren't conscious.
but that crazy guy had been trying to make the fall happen. he wanted the world and himself to die, i guess. eventually someone took up his work. when my friends and i started fighting shadows, we were told that the dark hour was why we had personas in the first place, and beating the arcana would make everything go back to normal. but really, we were just being used.
everything worked out in the end, but it sucked. all of us lost a lot.
i hope that explains why i clammed up the other day. i... guess? that i'm glad to hear that people can have personas in other situations besides the dark hour. sounds like your group were basically superheroes so maybe its a good thing, haha.
[ The cops in Akira's world definitely wouldn't have considered their work "helping," but he's just gonna let that comment slide. No need to mention that he's a nationally wanted criminal as it stands right now, not when Makoto is detailing something far more important. ]
I owe you a thank you then. The world is still going strong.
[ He wasn't sure at first, but Akira is becoming increasingly more confident that they're from the same world, just different years. Souji mentioned his attendant having a sister who left the Velvet Room to assist her charge in the past, so clearly there's been multiple visitors. ]
Sorry you went through all of that. Someone was manipulating us into doing what they wanted too, just... Nothing crazy like the apocalypse. It sounds like we might just get Personas whenever the world needs some help.
[ Makoto is too humble to comment on being thanked, nor does he feel interested in giving more details about what happened right now. Akira doesn't know just how much Makoto did do to keep the world going. ]
i guess we were lucky to run into each other then huh? makes me wonder what would happen if i started asking random people if they used to have a persona, haha

There could be others. I never thought I'd meet one other much less two.
