Character Information
Name: Makoto Yuuki
Canon: Persona 3
Canon Point: Post-game/post-death
Age: 17
History: https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Persona_3#The_Journey; https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Persona_3#The_Answer includes additional canon details although it occurred after he died.

Personality: Makoto is one of those guys whose inner world doesn't match his outer visage. From the outside, he appears to be extremely aloof and self-reliant. He rarely initiates conversation and usually gives short answers to questions posed to him. He doesn't talk about himself or his past, seeming to value his privacy above all else. Moreover, his deadpan manner of communication and dry sense of humor can make him appear standoffish or cold to others.

However, Makoto is really just a soft-hearted and kind person who has difficulties communicating with others and making friends. He is actually very humble and simply assumes that his thoughts or opinions are rarely ever wanted. He prefers to focus on work and school. If and when people get to know him, they find him to be a highly observant and non-judgmental person who makes for a good listener.

His withdrawn nature was caused by the death of his parents at the age of 6, which Makoto himself witnessed. Following this horribly traumatic event, Makoto blocked the incident from his mind as much as possible and spent the rest of his adolescence living with various distant relatives, none of which could commit to caring for him long-term. He was a frequent transfer student at school as a result, impeding his ability to make and keep friends, and incentivizing him to be more and more comfortable being completely alone.

By the start of the game at age 16, he was detached from others and kept to himself. His lack of opportunity to make and maintain connections with other people turned him into a comfortable loner: highly aware of the people around him but choosing not to seek out friendship, lest they be taken away from him.

He goes through a character arc over the course of the game by meeting the other members of SEES and forming relationships with them. For the first time, he had a group of people who relied on him, and who he relied on in turn. Over the course of the hardships and fun times in the game, the loosely organized group became tightly close friends, including with Makoto. He helped them share their pasts and worries and invited them to rely on him for support.

Through his teammates in SEES, Makoto's inner altruism finally got to come out into the sunlight. He found that he liked helping people, even if he got nothing in return. (Maybe even especially so, since he never wants to feel too indebted to others.) He enjoyed the company of his new friends, too, and despite some devastating losses that made him question his decision to open up to others, by the end of the game he decides that it is better to have friends and risk losing them than to be content but lonely.

His selflessness and altruism can lend itself to some problems. For example, some people can interpret his desire to help as being nosy. He also still doesn't talk enough about his own problems and feelings, even after being able to share them with his SEES teammates. He keeps his thoughts and emotions to himself and usually needs to be reminded not to internalize them. His self-sacrificial nature is what lead himself to sacrifice his life to seal away Nyx; but because he never shared his reasoning with his friends or even told them that he was going to die as a result, they were devastated by his death and took a long time to come to terms with it.

However, if people can get used to his stoic affect and dry, sometimes dark sense of humor, they will find him to be a kind-hearted, noble and caring person, who simply doesn't always know how to express that warmer side of himself.

Abilities & Skills: Like other Persona-users, Makoto can summon a thoughtform-like entity from his mind called a Persona. Personas have special powers and abilities, including healing spells and combat. However, Makoto also possesses the Wildcard ability, which allows him to possess, summon, and easily switch between multiple Personas at once. He is experienced in fighting monsters called Shadows and is proficient in using a sword. As the leader of SEES, he also has experience being a leader, making decisions that affect others, and mediating problems between people.

Inventory/Companions: His school uniform, his MP3 player, a gun-shaped object called an Evoker that he uses to summon his Personas, his phone, his sword.

Choice: Vampire
Reason: Makoto dies in canon, so a race of the undead is particularly fitting for him. Also, because his character arc involves learning how to rely on others, vampire would be morbidly apropos, as it turns his mental reliance on others into a physical one.
